Wikipedia says transcription is ‘the conversion of spoken words into written language. Also the conversion of handwriting, or a photograph of text into pure text.’ It’s essentially a record of the spoken word whether it be in conversation, oral history, a statement or in translation.

These ‘records’ can be used in the preservation of information, both public and private, and some are designed as teaching products for profit and not.

The manipulation and sale of text can be a profitable venture; you need only to find your market, present your trendy goods and watch your account grow.

Many service providers are offering transcription to all segments: education, publishing, sales, corporate, legal, medical and historical. The Internet has made location irrelevant in most cases and there are providers in every state.
